The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: Since I graduated from Penn State in May of 2000, my life turned upside down. My husband got into trouble and was incarcerated. As a result, we had to end our marriage. I had to put our house and rental unit up for sale. I moved into my former in-laws house to put my life together without my husband. As I was working at a leasing company as a temporary accountant, I took civil service exams to get into the state job. Soon later, I got a call from a friend who graduated together from Penn State. She had an internship with the Department of the Auditor General and got a permanent full-time job as an auditor. Her employer was looking for a staff auditor, and through her I got a full-time staff auditor job there. I worked with the Auditor General for four and half years. I got a promotion once in the department and transferred to the Comptroller's Office to be promoted to Accountant 2. Now I work for Department of General Services as Accountant 3. I also passed CPA in 2007. I got married in 2005 and had a baby boy last September. Since my life turned upside down in 2000, I worked so hard to accomplish my goals. I became a Buddhist in 2001, and my Buddhist practice helped me a lot to improve my life much better than ever. |
